This position is perfect for those with a Bachelor's degree and experience in accounts payable who love the idea of mentoring and guiding a team.

This position works out of Shoe Carnival's Corporate Headquarters at 7500 E Columbia Street, Evansville, Indiana Monday through Thursday and can work from home on Friday as long as you plan your work for the day!

Starting salary: $55,000. Commensurate with experience.

The Assistant Manager, Accounts Payable assists the Accounts Payable Manager in overseeing the accounts payable function. They are responsible for processing invoices, monitoring payments, and ensuring accuracy in financial transactions. They lend support to a team of accounts payable clerks, providing training and guidance as needed. They regularly work with internal departments and external vendor partners to resolve issues related to payments. They also support the Accounts Payable Manager in developing and implementing policies and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance.

Receives and reviews invoices, verifying that they comply with company policies and are approved for payment.

Communicates with the buying staff regarding invoice and purchase order discrepancies.

Communicates with the Distribution Center and store management on merchandise shortages.

Responds to vendor inquiries and resolves issues on a timely basis.

Ensures sales/use tax compliance and accrues use tax when required.

Sets up and maintains vendors, including ACH banking information in the accounting system per company policy.

Assists with processing vendor check and ACH payments.

Processes annual 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC files.

Processes annual Puerto Rico Informative Returns file.

Assists with quarterly and year-end financial audit requests.

Assists department manager in on-going software enhancement projects entailing testing and training within and across departments.

Assists department manager in identifying and implementing processes to improve department operating efficiency.

Assists with training and development of Accounts Payable associates.

Oversees department document storage at the Distribution Center.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar, or equivalent Accounts Payable experience required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel required.

Experience working with Accounting software preferred; Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains a plus.

Excellent leadership and communication skills with ability to articulate ideas and gather input from key stakeholders.

Efficient and detail-oriented with a positive attitude.

Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills required.

Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to multi-task.

Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team with management and associates at all levels of the organization.
