Location: Dublin, OH$115,000 - $125,000
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Opportunity: Accounting Manager - Inventory Control
Location: Hybrid Schedule (Remote Mondays & Fridays | In-Office Tuesdays through Thursdays)
About the Role
As the Accounting Manager - Inventory Control, you will play a critical role in overseeing all inventory-related accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making across multiple business units. This position combines technical accounting expertise with leadership responsibilities and is ideal for someone with a strong background in inventory accounting and a passion for process improvement. You will work cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and other departments to ensure proper accounting treatment, system integrity, and reporting accuracy. This is a key leadership role that will also support systems implementation and change management efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Accounting & Controls
Oversee accounting and reconciliation of all inventory-related accounts, including drop ship and unmatched receipts
Maintain stock ledger data, ensure controls are effective, and support accurate costing for financial statements
Monitor cycle count programs and review inventory provisions monthly
Lead the analysis and resolution of inventory transaction issues, variances, and posting errors
Drive ongoing improvements in inventory accuracy and control processes
Leadership & Team Development
Supervise and mentor team members, providing technical guidance and oversight on complex accounting issues
Responsible for team performance, hiring, coaching, and annual reviews
Foster a high-quality, performance-driven environment and support employee engagement and development
Financial Reporting & Close
Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Collaborate with business unit leaders to explain variances and provide insights
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support internal and external audit activities
Process Improvement & Strategic Support
Lead and support initiatives to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and system efficiency
Analyze existing workflows, identify gaps, and drive solutions that enhance operational and financial performance
Partner with cross-functional teams to support systems upgrades and process redesigns
Additional Responsibilities
Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business strategy
Create and maintain accounting policies and procedures documentation
Research and resolve complex accounting issues in compliance with GAAP
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in inventory accounting within distribution, manufacturing, or retail
Expertise in GAAP, inventory reconciliation, and internal controls
Proficiency with ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365 or Great Plains preferred)
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented and self-directed with a problem-solving mindset
