Overview
East Penn currently has an opportunity available for a PURCHASING AGENT.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate with vendors for pricing and delivery of MRO parts
- Sources vendors for non-standard and standard parts
- Meets with vendors on product category contract pricing and quote evaluation
- Works with Purchasing Coordinator to expedite high priority orders
- Completes purchasing process through invoicing and vendor follow-up
- Communicates with vendors for repairs of motors, hand tools, electronic components etc.
- As necessary, create new MRO parts in Somax and work to standardize part numbers
- Purchase manual and electric material handling equipment
- Attends internal project planning meetings when required
- Works with Purchasing Coordinator on MRO project purchasing
- Set-up new vendors in Somax
- Read part drawing (internal/external) for part sourcing and vendor communication
- Communicate relevant order information back to requester
Qualifications
The qualified candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills, business math skills, be well organized, have personal computer skills demonstrating competency in interacting between several programs and screens simultaneously and have basic mechanical knowledge. Must have 2-3 years purchasing background with strong understanding of Business Costing/Economics.
